Welcome to The Southern California Group, a leader in outsourced customer acquisition. We are excited to welcome you and look forward to providing for your company's needs. The Southern California Group is dedicated to helping our Fortune 500 and 100 clients in their pursuit to acquire new business. We have proven that a firm handshake, a great smile, and clear communication are the most effective tools in acquiring lifetime customers for our clients.
The technological boom that has occurred over the past several decades has left our clients feeling detached from their customers. The use of television commercials has been limited by digital video recorders. The introduction of satellite radio has decreased our clients ability to reach their target audience through radio commercials. Similarly, spam blockers have limited the success of direct internet marketing. While direct mail gets some client info in the customers doors, the response rate is generally less than 2 percent. Do-not-call lists and caller ID have restricted the use of telemarketing as a way to reach customers. The breakdown of these marketing avenues has led to a huge opening for The Southern California Group. Our personalized approach to customer acquisition fulfills a void left by other marketing possibilities and gives us reason for aggressive business development in 2010.
Companies across the globe have struggled with making in-house marketing effective and efficient. Outsourcing has allowed those companies to both increase sales revenue and expand their customer bases. Its the fastest, most cost-effective way to reach potential customers.
We are not a full service marketing firm. Our primary focus is customer acquisition and retention for our clients. We allow them to focus on brand recognition and product innovation while we bring them lifetime revenue and additional customers on a daily basis. Professionalism, clear communication, and integrity are core standards at the Southern California Group. Our clients know they can depend on us to consistently bring them quality customers that will continue to use their products and services in the years to come.
Tedford Picha President
Born and raised on Bainbridge Island, Wash., Tedford moved from the Northwest to Southern California to attend Claremont McKenna College, where he earned his B.A. in International Government and Business Management while playing football and lacrosse for the school.
After graduating, Tedford headed to Alaska to brave the seas as a commercial fisherman in search of adventure and gain. After many stories, and valuable lessons learned, he returned to Los Angeles to dive into the business world.
In Los Angeles, Tedford took an entry-level outside sales position at a nationally recognized firm to learn the industry of outsourced sales and marketing from the ground up. With initial aims to simply gain experience, Tedford found the fast-paced, social, competitive, performance based, and leadership oriented nature of the industry to be a good fit for his background and personality.
Tedford gained further experience while working with another start-up marketing firm before opening The SoCal Group, Inc. in Corona, CA in September of 2008. Within its first year, the initial leadership team of eight has expanded to 50 employees, and increased revenue by 400%. The company has opened a new market in Salt Lake City and has taken on a new client this year as well. The company has plans to expand into eight markets by 2012.
Tedford's goals over the next two years are to establish The SoCal Group's presence in all major West Coast markets, before taking the company international into London, Spain, Paris and the rest of the Western European markets. His passion remains tied to social entrepreneurship, as he looks to build self-sustaining non-profit organizations in years to come.
Eric Lee Management
Eric Lee was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. When he was nine years old his family moved to the United States for better opportunities. Eric quickly became passionate about the sport of short track speed skating. Eric spent a majority of his youth in Olympic Training centers around the country; Lake Placid, N.Y.; Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Marquette, Mich.
In 2006, Eric made his final bid to make the U.S. Olympic Team. Falling short of making the team, he retired his skates in search of a new adventure. For the next year he explored the real estate market in New Jersey, and spent another year managing a hotel and restaurant in Georgia. During this time he learned many valuable lessons about the business world and the type of business man he wanted to be.
In 2008, like a multitude of Americans before him, Eric headed west in search of a new opportunity.
It was in Los Angeles that Eric discovered his next opportunity. He began in an entry- level position at a fast paced marketing firm. There he learned the value of sales, leadership, and training others. Eric enjoyed the competitive yet supportive nature of the industry. He soon discovered that his natural competitiveness allowed him to be successful within the firm. Eric soon earned his position in a management role in Orange County. He continues to reside in the area, and continues to lead one of the top campaigns in the country.
Erics goals in the future include expanding into Asia. Never having lost his passion for food, Eric also plans to launch a chain of international-fusion themed restaurants throughout the United States. He hopes to continue developing new business partnerships, and sharing with others the valuable skills and life lessons he has learned.
David Kim Assistant Management
David Kim was born in the proud town of Kwangju in South Korea. At the age, of five his family immigrated to the United States in search of the American dream. Davids parents always emphasized the importance of education first, and just like many Korean parents made him play the violin and study hard. However, David was always attracted to sports, people and experiencing life.
As a child, David moved a lot because of his fathers schooling and career. He has lived in Michigan, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington and of course, California. Following his fathers wishes, David attended his alma-matter, Andrews University, a small private Christian college. There he studied religion, neuroscience, and pre-dental studies. Religion and the human mind intrigued him but looking into peoples mouths did not. After graduation David decided to teach English to students in Korea. That experience inspired him to start a tutoring business of his own. He soon realized he would need a lot more business experience in order to run a successful company of his own.
Soon he was introduced to the sales and marketing field. He quickly learned to love the industry because of its people oriented nature, and the constant challenge to adapt to new environments and circumstances. Being engulfed in a fast-paced, competitive environment, David thrived. He learned the value of the hard earned dollar and how sales were involved in so many aspects of the business world. Over time he learned to manage people, his priorities and his time. Most importantly David learned to coach and develop others to achieve their highest potential. He is driven by the opportunity to coach others and is motivated seeing their development and success. Davids plans in the future include getting a foothold in West Coast markets, particularly the Northwest, where he enjoys the fresh air and greenery year round. In his free time, Davids hobbies include basketball, snowboarding and dancing. Although this part may be hearsay, he is known to break some ankles, shred through five feet of powder, and slay many on the dance floor.

Ronald Gronewald Management
Originally from rural Illinois, Rons father moved the family to Southern California seeking a better opportunity for his childrens' future. Seizing this opportunity, Ron went on to graduate with a Bachelors in Business Administration from California Baptist University in Riverside.
Having a strong work ethic engrained in him from a very young age, Ron worked full-time at a manufacturing facility while attending college courses in the evening. He quickly grew within the company from an entry-level machine cleaner to a team leader overseeing ten to twelve employees. At this point, Ron realized that he could get ahead simply by working hard and leading by example.
Several years later, Ron had an opportunity to be a part of a startup construction brokerage firm, where he helped facilitate and execute maintenance contracts with clients such as: Ralphs, Vons, Lennar Homes, KB Homes, Western National Group, & The Irvine Company. The diverse client base, opportunity for growth, and the challenge of building a new company attracted him to the position. Over the next five years the company grew by 800% and had an increase in revenue from around $300K to almost $2 million. Throughout this rapid expansion, Ron learned the value and importance of having systems in place to keep a growing company operating smoothly and efficiently.
This solid foundation of experience greatly benefited Ron when he joined The Southern California Group. On board since the inception of the company, he played a key role in the companys opening in Corona, Calif., as well as their opening in a new location in Orange, Calif. Currently he is helping The So Cal Group execute plans to open two more locations by April 2012 representing two additional clients.
Rons vision for the company includes nationwide and eventually international expansion, including opening a flagship office in the United Kingdom by 2013 that will spearhead growth into Europe.

Today's business climate, more than ever before, is constantly changing and evolving. Development in technologies, communication, globalization, consumer demand, and products entering the market, have forced companies to drastically alter the way they do business in order to stay competitive. While industry leaders look to innovate, streamline, and constantly stay ahead of the curve, the one thing that has never changed for them is their pursuit of the ultimate bottom line in business: to increase market share and expand industry presence.
The clients we represent are some of the largest and best known in their respective industries, as they have proven for decades their ability to stay ahead of the competition. While they continue to specialize in their products and services, our clients have come to us for our ability to market and deliver these products and services to the small and medium sized business world. By specializing in face to face, one on one direct contact, our account executives are able to build personal relationships with each customer, allowing us to consult their business needs, and ultimately show them in person how our clients products and services are going to be a cost savings and a benefit to their small business needs.
What makes our face-to-face specialization so attractive to our clients is our 100% guaranteed return on investment. Unlike typical advertising and marketing campaigns that have huge up front costs but very uncertain and often immeasurable returns, we guarantee that every dollar spent is directly correlated to the acquisition of a new business account. If we do not perform, our clients lose nothing. When we do perform, our clients gain thousands of new business customers and millions of dollars in new revenue.
We are able to make this guarantee in every business market across the U.S. and around the world, where the small to medium size target market we focus on makes up ninety nine percent of all business worldwide. What this means for us and our clients is unlimited growth potential. Due to our ability to perform, our clients have asked us to expand into every major market up the west coast, before opening up markets across the U.S. and then internationally into Western Europe and Asian markets.
Our short-term goals are to open two new offices in the Los Angeles and Orange County markets, and additional locations in Salt Lake City and the San Francisco Bay area by the end of 2010. Beyond that we will be opening the San Diego, Portland, and Seattle markets, before moving east into Austin, Chicago, New York, and Boston. We are currently looking at prospective new markets in Spain and other Western European markets, as well as a number in Asia, which will be taken on sometime in 2011 and 2012.
Long term, we are looking to have a footprint in every major international market as the premiere outsourced sales and marketing company in the world. Along the way we will take our heart of service into the non-profit sector, establishing self-sustaining international non-profit businesses that measure success through social impact rather than profit and loss margins.
Dream big dreams. For only big dreams have the power to move mens souls.
-Marcus Aurelius
Career Opportunities
We pride ourselves on our fun, yet competitive culture based on integrity, character, and performance. As we continue to expand and diversify into new industries and new markets, we are looking to train and promote entirely from within, with leaders and performers advancing rapidly as we grow. We do not believe in seniority or tenure, but instead contribute much of our success to the drive, energy, and motivation of our people to achieve beyond normal corporate standards. Work ethic, impeccable attitudes, and humble student mentalities are the cornerstones of our organization, and the characteristics that will always be recognized and promoted over all else.
We place a great deal of value in our management teams understanding of our business structure from the ground up. Because of this, every member of our organization begins as an entry-level account representative- where they commence an intensive training process focused on teaching the fundamentals of direct sales and self-management. Here we emphasize effective communication skills with business customers, time and priority management, interpersonal skills, personal finance management, and value identification. In order for someone to effectively lead others, they must first be able to manage and lead themselves.
Upon completion of the initial phase of our training process, we move future managers into the account executive position to begin training in more of a leadership capacity. Here one begins developing skills in the areas of campaign management, advanced priority management, principles in leadership and leadership development, sales training, business and organizational psychology, public speaking, and administrative duties. Once we have determined that someone can effectively lead by example in both sales and leadership capacities, they are promoted to the assistant management role to begin training in business and organizational management.
The assistant management role is dress rehearsal for managing and leading an entire expansion office. Here one spends time at business seminars, Franklin Covey priority management classes, finance courses, and leadership development training conferences. Assistant managers are trained in all areas of administration, human resources, recruiting, marketing, reading financial statements, event coordination, leading organizational meetings, and the development of market expansion plans. Once competent in all areas of training, we look at location logistics and campaign needs and are able to open a new market.
As a manager one is responsible for all aspects of business finance, accounting, payroll, advertising, recruiting, administrative duties, business and leadership development and overall operations. Our managers are given full reign of setting and achieving business performance standards while meeting and exceeding all client expectations.
Truly effective leaders do not rely on a title of management to lead others. Our mangers remain focused on serving those under them, creating a fun, professional and integrity driven environment, and leading through trust and respect. Every member of our management team has been through, been led, and has led every phase of our business. As a result, we are able to integrate and synergize all aspects of our organization in order to move towards the common goal of living our mission statement, and making a hugely positive mark on the world.
1. What does The Southern California Group do?
We are outsourced by major clients to increase their market share through the acquisition of small to medium size business customers on their behalf. We meet directly with these customers, and through face to face, relationship oriented sales, are able to consult their business needs while increasing our clients customer base.
2. Why would a major client come to us for their sales and marketing?
Fortune 500 clients have many options when it comes to marketing. Radio, television, billboards, print, Internet advertising, direct mail, telemarketing, etc., have played significant roles in their marketing strategies over the past decade. All of these means however, have also become more costly and less effective, as business consumers have become more and more inundated with traditional media. Our strength lies in our ability to meet directly with these business customers and provide an extremely friendly, professional, and results driven presentation on our clients behalf.
3. How do I know that direct marketing would work for my company?
We have dramatically increased the market share and revenue of every client we have worked with. We have represented companies in a diverse range of industries, and have proven our ability to deliver results in every one. We are also a zero risk strategy, as we do not charge our clients if we do not meet mutual expectations.
4. What separates us from our competition?
Our people are our secret. We only recruit highly professional, highly motivated, and highly talented individuals to represent our clients. The acquisition of quality customers through direct sales is a bi-product of our intensive focus on leadership development.
5. How has the current economic crisis affected us?
Because the clients we represent have all been the leaders in their respective industries for decades, and all provide services that are indispensable to small businesses, our ability to consistently distribute such services to the market has made us extremely stable and in constant demand. Small businesses are always looking to cut costs and become more efficient, and our major clients are always looking to attract more new business. Hence the nearly 400% growth in the outsourced sales and marketing industry in the past decade.
Attitude
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our attitudes."
- Charles R. Swindoll
Work Ethic
Work ethic is the greatest common denominator between all successful people, and the cornerstone of every great organization. Our conviction drives us to outwork the competition.
Student Mentality
True leaders dedicate themselves to lifelong of learning. We pride ourselves on the constant pursuit of personal and professional growth, and are perpetually seeking to break the next comfort zone and find the next challenge.
"We have an innate desire to endlessly learn, grow, and develop. We want to become more than what we already are. Once we yield to this inclination for continuous and never-ending improvement, we lead a life of endless accomplishment and satisfaction."
- Chuck Gallozzi
Balance
Priority Management is perhaps the single most important skill set to master in life. Because we believe that professional growth without personal growth is chaos, we strongly believe that 'to live, to love, to learn, and to leave a legacy' is the ultimate achievement.
Competition
Competition drives performance. Performance drives success.
"A competitor will find a way to win. Competitors take bad breaks and use them to drive themselves just that much harder. Quitters take bad breaks and use them as reasons to give up. It's all a matter of pride."
- Nancy Lopez
Integrity
In looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence, and energy. And if they don't have the first, the other two will kill you."
- Warren Buffett
Character
"While you, the leader can teach many things, character is not taught easily to adults who arrive at your desk lacking it. Be cautious about taking on reclamation projects regardless of the talent they may possess. Have the courage to make character count among the qualities you seek in others."
-John Wooden
Goals
In order to reach a destination, be it the top of the mountain or the top of an industry, the focus must be centered around hitting a series of short term, tangible goals, while keeping the long term vision in sight at all times.
Service and Giving Back
Being successful in business is one thing. Using your success as a tool to help positively impact the world is another. We strive to do both.
"The companies that survive the longest are the ones that work out what they uniquely can give to the world-- not just growth or money but their excellence, their respect for others, or their ability to make people happy. Some call those things soul."
-Charles Handy
Performance Driven Growth
We do not believe in tenure or seniority. Performers advance. Performers are rewarded. This principle has allowed us to be expanding, changing, and improving continuously.
Humility
"I have three precious things which I hold fast and prize. The first is gentleness; the second frugality; the third is humility, which keeps me from putting myself before others. Be gentle and you can be bold; be frugal and you can be liberal; avoid putting yourself before others and you can become a leader among men."
-Lao-Tzu
Perseverance
"No is a word on your path to Yes. Don't give up too soon. Not even when well-meaning parents, relatives, friends, and colleagues tell you to get a real job. Your dreams are your real job."
- Joyce Spizer
"If you stand up and be counted, from time to time you may get yourself knocked down. But remember this: A man flattened by an opponent can get up again. A man flattened by conformity stays down for good."
-Thomas J. Watson, Jr.
"Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan press on has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."
- Calvin Coolidge
Vision
"Some believe there is nothing one man or one woman can do against the enormous array of the world's ills-- against misery, against ignorance, or injustice and violence. Yet many of the world's great movements, of thought and action, have flowed from the work of a single man. A young monk began the Protestant reformation, a young general extended an empire from Macedonia to the borders of the earth, and a young woman reclaimed the territory of France. It was a young Italian explorer who discovered the New World, and 32 year-old Thomas Jefferson who proclaimed that all men are created equal. 'Give me a place to stand,' said Archimedes, 'and I will move the world.' These men moved the world, and so can we all."
-Robert F. Kennedy
"If we did all the things we were capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves. GAOLS
